The History of Reiki
Reiki is believed to have begun in Tibet several thousand years ago. It became a lost healing art until rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in the mid to late 1800's. He began an extensive study of the healing phenomena and studied ancient sutras. He found the answers to some of his questions in the Indian Tibetan sutras, but not the knowledge about how to access this Energy. Following a 21-day meditation on the Holy Mountain in Japan, Dr. Usui reportedly received the vital information about which symbols allow one to activate and how to utilize this universal life energy for healing.

The knowledge that he gained would allow him to harness and apply the powers that are attributed to Reiki. By using initiations, he would be able to help people gain access to energy. When patients participate in these initiations, they may become a more powerful channel for the energy, and this can help them receive better treatments.

Reiki is useful in supporting the treatment of serious illnesses, injuries, emotional disorders, and stress-related conditions.
